Introductions

It is an acronym which stands for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Features of laser beam:

  • It is monochromatic,i.e., of single wavelength.
  • It is coherent in both
    • Phase Temporal Coherence
    • Direction Spatial Coherence
  • It is collimated,i.e., parallel beam.
  • It behaves like any other radiation
    • It is reflected.
    • Refracted ; hence can be focused or scattered
    • Absorbed
    • It is produced by the emission of photons from suitably energized material.

Types

  • Low Intensity Laser ( Low Level Laser Therapy )
It is class 3 laser which has less than 1 watt power. It does not penetrate deeply inside the soft tissue or muscle. This types of laser used by routein physiotherapist.
  • High Intensity Laser (Class 4)
Here, we use HIGH INTENSITY LASER with 1064nm wavelength and 12 watt power.

High Intensity Laser

It is a treatment option which has the ability to penetrate through soft tissue, muscle & bone to deliver healing light energy to the body cells. It is a non-invasive treatment approach that treats the underlying pain by actually repairing damaged cells. High Intensity Laser Therapy has 80 percent of success rate in improving function and significantly reducing symptoms.

Mechanism of action

Bio stimulation Mechanism

It means the ability to “Biostimulate” tissue growth and repair at cellular level. Laser light, due to its monochromacity and coherency, can be precisely adjusted and its behaviour can be finely predefined.1064nm wavelength is specific for its higher action on biological chromophores, allowing maximum therapeutic effect without irradiating unwanted areas. LASER light will absorb in mitochondria of cell. It stimulates cell regeneration and DNA and RNA repairs inside of the cells, increases blood flow, increases metabolic activity. It also decreases chronic pain by “resetting” the nerves.

High Penetration Depth

Optimum ratio of absorption and penetration allows efficient stimulation of tissue and pain receptors in up to 12cm depth.

Immediate And Long Lasting Pain Relief

1064 nm wavelength are well absorbed in liquid based structures. When reaching the skin the laser light creates wavelength specific photochemical wave in the human tissue.

Microcirculation support

This mechanical wave stimulates local circulation and supports lymph drainage of the pathological area, thereby, reducing swelling and inflammation
