Introduction
The PRP therapy, Platelet rich plasma (also known as Biological treatment) is a
revolutionary pain treatment therapy involves injecting platelets from the
patient’s own blood to rebuild a damaged or injured muscle, ligaments, tendon
or cartilage. It has been successful in not only relieving the pain, but also in jump
starting the healing process.
The patient’s blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge for 45 minutes to separate
out the platelets. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the damaged
portion of the muscle, tendon, ligaments or cartilage.

Contraindication
Complete tear with separation of both end of any tendon / ligaments / muscle
An infection happens when harmful microorganisms invade the body.
A tumor is an abnormal growth of tissue that can be benign (non-cancerous).
Mechanism of action
PRP contain high concentration of platelets, mostly 4 to 5 times more than normal count .
Platelet has rich storage of “GROWTH FACTORS .“ This growth factors are helpful for “Tissue Healing Process”.
Prerequisite for doing PRP
- Stop oral pain killer medicine (NSAID or Steroid) before 3 days
- If patient had taken particulate steroid injection, then we will do procedure after 2 weeks
- Stop Anti-coagulant (Ecosprin & clopidogril) before 3 days.
How we do PRP Treatment?
We are doing PRP treatment with help of specially designated “PRP ULTRA REFRIGRERATED CENTRIFUGE MACHINE”
Following are the steps of taking blood from patient and process with help of PRP KIT AND MACHINE
Take 2 cc of anticoagulant in a 20 ml syringe and scalp vein set to collect the blood sample.
Put PRP kit into the special refrigerated PRP centrifuge for separation of RBC & Plasma.
Take out kit and discard upper part of platelet poor plasma with 10 cc syringe and discard it.
Draw 18 cc of patient’s own blood and mix with anticoagulant solution in syringe.
After centrifugation take PRP kit out, and lock it in the center part for isolation of plasma from RBC.
Now remaining 3 to 4 cc plasma is collect in syringe, this is the main ” Platelet Rich Plasma “
Transfer the collected blood into the "drPRP kit" (Made in the USA) for processing and preparation.
Do second centrifugation for concentration of platelets at bottom of kit above lock part.
The PRP is ready to be injected into and around the injured tissue under ultrasound guidance.
Post Procedure Care
• Patient needs to immobilize the part of injection for at least 1 week.
• We are not giving regular pain killer medicine as it may affect the function of platelets but we are giving medicine to control pain and do not affect the function of platelets.
• Patient may require to do some physiotherapy and exercise in follow up sessions to get good range of movement.
• Physiotherapy can be done with nearby good reputed physiotherapy doctor.
